St. Lucia is an island in the Southern Caribbean also referred to as "The Hawaii of the Caribbean". The first time I visited St. Lucia (yes, I loved it so much I had to return) I knew why. Lush, green vegetation, mountains, and beautiful blue water are just some of the things that make St. Lucia special. Here are 5 things to know about St. Lucia:
It was the first Caribbean island named after a woman.
The official language is English.
The two huge mountains are called the Pitons. There is Petite Piton and Gros Piton. Incidentally, Piton is also the name of the local beer (so tasty).
The Soufriere Volcano is the highest point on the island of Saint Lucia, rising to a height of 3,174 feet above sea level.
When visiting St. Lucia, I recommend Sulphur Springs Mud Bath excursion. Supposedly, bathing in them makes you look younger. I am wondering if maybe I didn't stay in the mud long enough?
There are so many wonderful things about St. Lucia to see and experience. The one word that always comes to mind when describing St. Lucia is stunning. Go see for yourself! You won't regret it.
